Self catering farmhouse south of Jonzac, France
La Gaitrie enjoys a beautiful setting in peaceful surroundings. Other than a neighbouring farm, the views from the house are of uninterrupted countryside. The house is wheelchair friendly.
Location
The hamlet of Messac lies within 10 min drive of Montendre, which has excellent Thursday market, banks, tennis, bike hire, swimming lake and small golf course. Jonzac, 20 min drive, has a wider range of shops and excellent indoor/outdoor tropical pool complex “Les Antilles”.
Beautiful golden sands of the Atlantic coast around Royan area 75 min drive. Ferry across the Gironde estuary at Blaye, 45 min drive, provides a lovely day out visiting the renowned wine estates of the Médoc; you may wish to continue on to the sailing lakes and superb Atlantic beaches stretching towards Arcachon.
Historic Cognac with its world famous distilleries is 45 min drive, while Bordeaux is just 1 hour distant. Eurostar/TGV to Angoulême 60 km. International airports: Bordeaux 84 km/La Rochelle 136 km/Bergerac 105 km.
Facilities include:
Outdoor heated saltwater swimming pool with an infinity edge and underwater lighting, sun loungers and chairs, and with two terraces, one open and one covered. From the swimming pool terraces the only views are of undulating countryside and woods.

Kitchen/Dining Room, spacious and well equipped, including a dishwasher, American style fridge-freezer with ice-maker, gas and electric cookers, gas hob, microwave

Notes
All bed linen and bathroom towels are included (linen change 15 Euros per person, payable to the housekeeper).
For those visitors with babies there is a cot (please bring your own linen), and high chair provided. Baby-sitting may also be available on request, please ask.
There is no telephone at the property, although the mobile signal is good.
For cooler months of the year there is the option of underfloor heating in the kitchen/dining room, sitting room and master bedroom/bathroom - please ask for more details.
